Research has identified numerouscounter-active behaviors that young people have taken against the national effort to createawareness of marijuana’s effects. The literature in the area indicates an increased number ofusage among young people and continual utilization by proficient users. The reasons behind thisbehavior include reduced perception of the drug’s dreadfulness, instillation of fear withoutproposed countermeasures, dismissiveness of the credibility of the messages, and superficialityof the drugs’ real effects. Despite the large number of resources channeled to this project, theresults were outrightly disappointing. Instead of attaining a reduced number of marijuana users,the government raised the number and invigorated pro-drug beliefs (Crano, Donaldson, Siegel,Alvaro, & O’Brien, 2019).Proposed SolutionThe most effective way to reduce marijuana usage among young people is to address thematter head-on without hiding behind research and peer pressure.
